About Me

I’m Janus Moncur, the owner of Co-Creative Coaching and Counseling, where I offer counseling, coaching, and consulting services to individuals, families, groups, and organizations.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor, I specialize in trauma and canine-assisted therapy. I earned my degree in social work from Barry University and hold certifications including Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Rapid Resolution Practitioner, Compassion Fatigue Professional, Human Animal Intervention Specialist, Professional Coach, and Pet Loss Bereavement Counselor. I draw from a wide range of therapeutic approaches to help my clients heal emotional wounds and find peace—without the discomfort of more traditional methods.

I’m passionate about the power of animal-assisted therapy and actively volunteer with National Crisis Response Canines, using my own therapy dogs to support people in crisis and trauma situations. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of presenting on topics like trauma, emotional intelligence, and canine-assisted therapy, and I’ve authored and co-authored works that bring attention to healing through connection. I’m a proud member of NASW, IATP, IRRT, and APLB, and I support animal welfare causes including the ASPCA and CatDogs.org—donating a portion of my work’s proceeds to support these missions close to my heart.

My specialties include Canine-Assisted Trauma Treatment (CATTx), grief and pet loss support, compassion fatigue, and emotional intelligence development. Sessions are designed to be collaborative, comfortable, and centered around your personal goals—whether you’re looking to heal past wounds, navigate major life changes, or simply reconnect with your sense of self. In both private and group settings, my therapy dog Bear plays a gentle yet powerful role in reducing anxiety, building trust, and creating space for real transformation.

What Others Are Saying About Our Services

“Janus has had a deeply powerful and effective impact on me. I felt truly seen and validated as I shared my trauma, therapy history, and medical challenges. Her techniques—what I call her ‘magic’—helped me release stress, anxiety, and emotional pain I had carried for years. With her guidance, I found new ways to cope, rediscovered my passions, and gained tools that will support me for life.”
— M.H.

“It’s always a joy having Bear in my sessions. His calming presence and incredible sense of timing—whether gently resting his head on my knee or making me smile with his goofy antics—brings so much comfort. He’s not just a therapy dog; he’s a true partner in the healing process. I’m so grateful for the peace that both Janus and Bear bring into my life.”
— C.D.

Meet Bear – Your Canine Co-Therapist

Therapy sessions at Co-Creative Coaching often include Bear, my certified therapy dog and National Crisis Response Canine. Bear is a Keeshond with a gentle, intuitive nature and a calming presence that helps clients feel at ease. Whether he’s quietly sitting nearby or offering affection at just the right moment, Bear plays an important role in creating a safe and supportive environment for healing.

Clients often share that Bear brings a sense of peace and comfort that words can’t quite explain—and research backs that up. Just being in the presence of a dog can increase oxytocin, lower stress, and improve emotional well-being. For many, Bear is more than a companion—he’s a healing partner on their journey.
